Air-Dry Your Clothes

Air-Dry Your Clothes

Summary: Air-drying your clothes is one of the many actions that will help lower your carbon footprint and save you money.

Description

A critical step in decarbonization is reassessing your use of energy. For households that run on fossil fuels, reducing your household’s energy needs can lessen the number of nonrenewable resources you consistently use. Minimizing our dependency on fossil fuels is critical in lessening the effects of climate change.

For households that hold families, the dryer is being used on a regular basis, costing your home not only energy but money as well. By air-drying your clothing, you can reduce the cost of laundry as well as your carbon footprint. Air-drying your clothing is an easy, affordable, and low-stress action that can bring you one step closer to being carbon-free.

Deep Dive

Steps to Take

Step 1: Decide how you want to air-dry your clothing.

Some households may choose to dry their clothes on a line outside while others may choose to dry their clothes inside their home, either on a drying rack or another fit location. (A shower or towel rod works great!)

Step 2: After washing, hang or set your clothing.

When air-drying inside, it's important to ensure that you are drying in a good spot. To air-dry your clothes efficiently, set them in an area with acceptable airflow.

Step 3: Enjoy your dry clothes and continue to take climate action!
