If you have considered having solar and battery backup installed on your home or adding battery storage to an existing solar array, the CFREE Zoom event on Monday, April 22nd (Earth Day!) at 7:00pm will be a great opportunity to learn about the Connected Solutions Demand Response program.  

 

Why add batteries to a solar array and what incentives are available?  How does participation in this program help the electric grid and reduce the use of fossil fuels?  We will address these important questions and many more.

 

 

In addition to the 30% federal investment tax credit (ITC) that is available for solar and batteries and up to $1,000 in a Massachusetts credit, the Connected Solutions program provides annual payments (in addition to net metering credits) for Eversource's ability to use electric power from your batteries to help meet their customers' power needs during peak demand periods.  This is a great program that also helps reduce the need for fossil fuel-based peaker plants, reducing their environmental impact, and their high cost to ratepayers.

 

Massachusetts also has a 0% loan program ("Heat Loan program") that covers solar battery storage as well as heat pumps for heating homes.

 

CFREE is a working group of the Lincoln Green Energy Committee (GEC) and has organized a wide array of events over the past year that have covered a range of topics relating to energy efficiency and areas where we can all do our part to reduce the impacts of climate change.
